| to shit here because Detroit couldnt keep up with european car manufacturers on the diesel front, they were precariously competitive on the gas front. Diesel is cheap as hell in every south american country I have ever been to, and their roads have a presence of diesel cars to reflect it, and they are all asian and european autos. Detroit has been so hamstrung that they could only stay afloat with vehicles in which they can mark up exhorbitantly...trucks and SUVs. If diesel had been priced as it is in the rest of the west, Detroit would have been sunk LONG ago.
